Care & Hanging Guide

Make your piece last a lifetime. The basics, and the details.

Where to Hang It

Light

Avoid direct sunlight. Even archival pigment inks will fade after decades of direct UV exposure. Hang on walls perpendicular to windows, or in lower-light positions. UV-filtering glazing or window film extends life further.

Temperature

Stable indoor temperature of 18–24°C / 65–75°F is ideal. Avoid hanging near heating vents, fireplaces, or exterior walls that experience temperature swings.

Humidity

Indoor humidity of 40–60% is ideal. Avoid bathrooms (steam) and kitchens (humidity + temperature swings + grease aerosols). For dry climates or heated indoor air in winter, a small humidifier helps.

Spaces to avoid

Direct sunlight zones · Bathrooms · Kitchens above the stove · Above radiators or fireplaces · Garages and basements with humidity swings · Outdoor or semi-outdoor spaces

How to Clean

Canvas

  • Dust regularly with a soft dry microfiber cloth, gentle horizontal sweeps
  • For stubborn dust, slightly damp microfiber (distilled water only)
  • No solvents, no cleaning sprays, no abrasives
  • Hand-stretched canvas can be gently re-tensioned if it slackens over years (contact us)

Metal Framed

  • Dust with soft microfiber cloth
  • Smudges or fingerprints: damp soft cloth + dry immediately
  • The ChromaLuxe surface is scratch-resistant but not scratch-proof — never use paper towels or abrasive cloths
  • Frame: same dust + damp-cloth treatment

Wooden Framed

  • Frame: soft cloth dust + occasional wood polish (sparingly, on cloth not frame)
  • Glass: standard glass cleaner sprayed onto the cleaning cloth (NEVER directly onto glass — overspray can wick into the frame edge and damage the print)
  • For deep cleaning, take the piece down, clean glass separately, allow to dry fully before rehanging

Framed Canvas

  • Canvas surface: soft dry microfiber cloth only — no liquids, no sprays
  • Wood floater frame: soft cloth dust; occasional wood polish on the cloth, not the frame
  • The shadow gap between canvas and frame collects dust over time — a soft-bristle brush or dry cloth removes it

How to Hang

Hardware included by format

  • Canvas — Sawtooth or wire hanger pre-installed on the back
  • Metal Framed — Integrated wall mount system, ready to hang
  • Wooden Framed — D-ring hanger on the back
  • Framed Canvas — Hanging kit included, ready to hang

Wall anchors

Use wall anchors appropriate to your wall material:

  • Drywall: standard plastic drywall anchors for pieces up to 5 kg, toggle bolts for heavier
  • Plaster: plaster-rated anchors with longer reach
  • Brick/concrete: masonry anchors with appropriate drill bit
  • Wood/stud: wood screws directly into stud (most secure)

Multiple anchor points

For pieces over 60×80 cm or 4 kg, use two anchor points minimum. The piece distributes weight better, hangs straighter, and is more secure.

Height

Center of artwork at eye level — typically 145–155 cm / 57–61 in from the floor — adjusted to your wall context and ceiling height.

Storing or Moving Your Piece

Short-term storage

Store flat or upright (never face-down). Avoid stacking. Wrap in acid-free tissue paper or breathable cotton cloth — never plastic for long periods (traps humidity).

Moving

Transport flat in a padded sleeve or original packaging. For framed pieces, ensure glass-side faces up and is well-cushioned. Avoid temperature extremes (don’t leave in a hot car for hours).

Long-term storage

If a piece will be stored for over 6 months, keep it in a climate-controlled space, wrapped in acid-free tissue, in a flat archival box. Avoid attics, basements, and storage units without climate control.
